While our new home is still too fresh and exciting to allow discontent, I’ll admit that I occasionally succumbed in our old home. Despite all there was to be grateful for, sometimes it was the reddish tint in our floors that got me down. Or the size of our lot. Or the lack of natural light. Sometimes, it was just a vague feeling that our home was less than, unsatisfactory, wanting.

Maybe for you it’s something else: that same sense of discontent can creep in around our marriages, our families, our friends, our looks, our ability to travel. And while I won’t blame all of our dissatisfaction on social media — that palm-size portal that normalizes the extreme in every category and serves it up to us 24/7 — it certainly contributes to it.

Whatever the root, I’ve found a reliable way out.
