You don't have to go to Europe
You can, but you don't have to.
By certain measures, last week’s newsletter was the most popular one I’ve ever written. 100+ “hearts” later, I am grateful — and a bit relieved. I wondered if I’d get pushback from those who don’t have a close family or a favorite place, or from those who prefer the exotic trip just as I do the familiar one.
Emboldened by your generosity, I’m inching out a bit further on the limb to continue our conversation. This week, what I want to say is: you don’t have to go to Europe.
You can, of course. You can go to Europe! I have (once, so far, as seen above), and I hope to go again, with my children and without. This newsletter is not to convince you not to go. Instead, it’s for those who haven’t gone or can’t go to Europe, and who feel badly about it.
