Interesting and thanks for sharing! My hope is that people who struggle with the lure of social media and the cognitive dissonance of knowing its bad for them while not being able to stay away would just permanently delete their accounts and never look back. Zero cost (other than being completely out of the loop on your friends’ conversations about ballerina farmers LOL!! ;))
Oooh! I'm curious to see this in real time. Can I check it out next Articles Club? :) I've been toying with a few apps, but then again it's always still on the phone and I feel like I still have to have the self control to choose it. The only thing that has worked for me is to let Jeff choose the password so when I need more screen time, I have to ask him to login. That got me in trouble once though when I was away from home and really needed to reference something in my messenger app!
I like this idea, and appreciate the need to get up, and physically unbrick your phone. I do wish they could change your phone’s display when it’s bricked. It seems like you’ll still face all the distracting app icons and notification counters tempting you to unbrick. Lisa and I discovered this app Minimis that allows you to change your display to have no app icons (it utilizes Shortcuts heavily). I may play around with combining these two and see how it goes!
Ooh I will have to check out Minimis! When Bricked, the icons for apps that are off limits are darkened. And if you click on them, a notice pops up that says "this is a distraction," ha!
Interesting! I've been using the Freedom app for a long time, so I'm wondering how this differs other than the obvious physical brick as the locking mechanism. Does it work if your phone is in Low Power mode (something about the VPN system Freedom uses gets tripped up by Low Power mode)?

I love you for this, friend! And I still find some utility and joy in it, as long as it stays in its proper place :)
I just bought a brick after your last post. Looking forward to trying it out!
Aww thank you for letting me know, friend! I hope you love it!!
Been seeing this but wasn’t sure if it was worth it! Just ordered!
Ooh I can't wait to hear what you think!! In our experience, it really does do exactly what you hope it will!

Yes, I have used it in Low Power mode!
Love this idea! Do you buy one per phone user, or can multiple people use one?
There is currently no limit to how many people can use one Brick! John and I use the same one!
This is intriguing! Thank you for introducing all of us to this. I am getting one!
What a cool concept, thank you for sharing! May be adding this one to our Christmas list!
