One of the greatest “village” gifts of this past year has been our little preschool learning pod. Together with two other mom friends, we get together once a week for a couple of hours. We rotate houses (with the occasional field trip thrown in!), and whoever is the host is in charge of the 3 big kids - planning learning activities, crafts, supplies, snack, etc. The other two moms are in charge of the 4 babies in a separate area of the house. For the first hour, the big kids do their learning, and for the second hour, all the kids (ages 6mo to 4 years) play together. It’s been so helpful for our preschoolers to get separate, specific learning time, get comfortable with a “teacher” that’s not mom, and practice skills they’ll need for entering school in the coming years. But the weekly connection with these mom friends has truly been the biggest blessing in gaining deep friendships and truly doing life together.
I’m a retired elementary school teacher and I am loving this “village” my cousin Emily has created here on Substack!❤️You go, girl?
